Zagreb is the capital city of Croatia. It has wonderful architecture and is a charming city. In the summer months Zagreb is one of the places I would only recommend spending a day in because it gets uncomfortably hot. If you fly into Zagreb’s airport make your way to the coast line to experience Croatia’s amazing beach life.
If you’re in Zagreb and you have a day to sight see, I recommend visiting these five places. I have also included the accommodation I recommend staying at.

Accommodation
As I mentioned, when I was in Zagreb I was only there for a day and so I booked a place near the airport because I knew I would be leaving the next morning. I would fully recommend staying at COOL Rooms – Zagreb Airport. The cost was 50⬠per night. Breakfast was also included in the price and they offered a free shuttle service included in the room price. They were reliable, affordable and just what I needed for an overnight stay. The staff was also very friendly, kind and happy to help in any way. The cost of a taxi to the city centre was about 30ā¬.
What to do in Zagreb
1. Visit St. Mark’s Church
St Markās Church is one of Zagrebās most iconic buildings. My favourite part about the building is the tiled roof – has the medieval coat of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia on the left side, and the emblem of Zagreb on the right.

2. Check out the most touristy spot in the city: Zagreb Cathedral

3. Treck up to Strossmartre
Stross Promenade is a just a walk to the Upper Town of Zagreb. You have to take a walk along Ilica Street direction west, and after the JelaÄiÄ Square you will get to the Funicular Station.

4. Museum of Broken Relationships
Zagreb is full of quirky museums. This museum displays personal objects from former lovers after a relationship ends.

5. Eat like a local. Try some cevape and visit local coffee shops
